Some words about myself.

I am 57 years old, married with a young lady from Thailand (Picture) and work as a sailor. I was born and raised in Søvik. It is a small parish located on the north-west coast of Norway in Sunnmøre, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. Søvik has a population of about 8-900 people. Here is a small picture of Søvik taken in 1968.

My job takes me out to sea for 6-7 months out of the year. When home I enjoy taking fishing trips on my boat.

Here is a picture from a great fishing trip.

I work for Odfjell, a Norwegian company, as a chief engineer. Odfjell is the world's largest company for sea borne transportation of chemicals. The company owns/operates more than ninty ships world-wide. At the moment I work on board the MV Bow Firda. She was built at Kværner Florø in Florø, Norway. The MV Bow Firda was delivered in november 2003. She is approximately 37500 DWT, length over all 183.10m, breadth moulded 32.20 m, and her total height is 43.36 m. If you would like to see a picture of one of the sister ships, MV Bow Cedar, from the sea trial click here. You can also visit Odfjell's homepages.

Geir Dahl have made this: Chemical tankers for dummies, please read it if you want.

I have now started to use Legacy as my main program for genealogy, Norwegian homepage for this program can be found Here And English homepage can be found here.

I am a member of DiS Norge. DiS Norge stands for Data i Slektsforskning Norway, a Norwegian computer genealogy club.

Would you like to check my Ancestors page (Partly updated 27.02.2009) or a part of my (almost 28000 persons) Family tree? (Updated 25.10.2012) This is mostly in Norwegian but don't let that scare you, if you have any questions, please e-mail me.

I have found most of the information about my family in different Bygdebøker (village history books) from my area of Norway and some "church books" from Haram municipal published by Haram Kulturhistoriske Lag. If you want to see which books I have, just click the links.

I have many relatives in USA, but I have not started to locate them yet. I also have some relatives in the Perth/Queen Anne area in Australia.
